Stop Waiting for Permission

There was a time in my life when I believed someone had to tell me I was ready.
I waited for someone to notice my potential. I waited for someone to validate my ideas. I waited for someone to choose me before I chose myself.
I thought confidence came after approval. I thought purpose started when someone handed me an opportunity. I thought my voice only mattered if enough people agreed with it. So I waited.
I waited to write. I waited to speak. I waited to lead. I waited to start the business. I waited to share my story. The problem with waiting for permission is that it often comes from people who were never assigned to determine your future.
Sometimes we spend years sitting outside doors that God never asked us to knock on.
For many of us, it started long before adulthood.
Maybe you grew up being told to stay quiet because your opinions didn't matter.
Maybe every decision you made was questioned until you stopped trusting yourself.
Maybe you were criticized every time you tried something new, so eventually you decided it was safer not to try at all.
Or perhaps life simply taught you that rejection hurts, so waiting became your way of protecting yourself.
Without realizing it, you begin handing people authority they were never meant to have. Their silence becomes your "no." Their hesitation becomes your limitation. Their opinion becomes your identity. But God has already called You!
One of the biggest lessons I continue to learn is that God's calling doesn't begin when people recognize it.
None of the people that did mighty things for God in the Bible received permission from people before God used them.
They responded to God's invitation, even when fear was louder than confidence.
If God has placed something in your heart, you do not need universal approval before taking the first step.
This is the question we rarely ask ourselves.
What if nobody likes the post? What if nobody buys the book?
What if nobody shows up? What if they don't understand?
Those are real fears. But here's another question.
What if your obedience changes one person's life?
What if your story becomes the answer to someone's prayer?
What if the very thing you're afraid to release is the thing God intends to use?
Sometimes we become so focused on the audience that we forget the assignment.
You don't become ready by waiting! You become ready by doing.
The first article may not be perfect. The first video may be awkward.
The first event may have only a few people. The first business idea may need refining.
That doesn't mean you weren't supposed to begin.
Growth happens while you're moving, not while you're waiting.
Stop asking for Permission because you don't need permission to heal.
You don't need permission to dream again.
You don't need permission to write the book.
You don't need permission to apply for the job.
You don't need permission to start over.
You don't need permission to become the person God is shaping you into.
The only permission you truly need has already been given by the One who created you.
If you've been waiting for someone to tell you you're good enough, capable enough, or ready enough, let this be your reminder.
You are allowed to begin before you feel fearless.
You are allowed to take up space without apologizing.
You are allowed to grow publicly.
You are allowed to trust what God has placed inside you.
Stop waiting for permission.
Start walking in purpose.
Because your calling has never depended on someone else's approval.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." — Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
What dream, gift, or calling have you been postponing because you've been waiting for someone else's approval?
Maybe today is the day you stop waiting... and simply begin.
