When God Says Wait… But You’re Tired of Waiting

Have you ever sat with your head in your hands, heart heavy with disappointment, eyes filled with quiet frustration and you are just whispering, “God… how much longer?” Just checking to make sure I am not alone. Because I have. I know for a fact that waiting on God can feel like being stuck in a hallway and every door seems closed just for you because everyone around you seems to be doing just fine and walking through with ease. You've prayed. You've fasted. You've done all the “right” things. And still, NOTHING! Absolute silence.
Here’s the thing we don’t talk about enough or sometimes not at all: Waiting on God is indeed very hard. And yes, it can be emotionally exhausting.
💔 The Weight of the Wait
Waiting can be very heavy and stressful because it stretches you in ways you didn’t ask for. It tests your faith, your endurance, and sometimes your very identity. In the middle of it, it can feel like God has
forgotten or abandon you… like maybe you have done something wrong, missed something, or worse He changed His mind about you. The Bible doesn’t sugarcoat it either: “Hope deferred makes the heart sick…” Proverbs 13:12 (NIV)
That’s real. It’s not just about being patient; it’s about holding on while your heart aches, because you have a lot of unanswered prayers , and life seems to be passing you by. But lovely, even in the waiting, God is near.

✨ What God Is Really Doing in the Wait
Although this would sound cliche and it might not look like it, but the waiting season is one of Heaven’s most powerful classrooms. God is preparing you. Every significant person God used in the Bible had to go through some sort of waiting period before they arrived at God's promise for them. Father Abraham was promised father of all nation; I mean God told him that by Himself but Abraham was barren for years. Ironic right? Joseph had to be betrayed, sold into slavery, forgotten in prison before he became the second in command. David knew he was going to be king; I mean the man was anointed without even asking for it but despite having the knowledge that he is anointed king, he was sent back to tend sheep for years before he ever wore a crown.
And Jesus waited 30 years for a 3-year assignment. “Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean God isn’t working.” Behind the scenes, He’s building character, pruning distractions, healing wounds, and aligning everything for the right time. Sometimes what feels like a delay is actually divine protection.
🌱 How to Stay Anchored When You're Tired
If we are being for real, having faith doesn’t always feel strong, bold or loud. Sometimes it's a quiet thought or a whisper of “God, I still believe… barely.”
Here are a few things I have tried, maybe you can try them too
Be honest with God. It is okay to cry and complain; don't believe in this mindset that crying or complaining makes you an ingrate. It doesn't! Cry to your father, it is okay. You don’t have to fake strength. Even Jesus wept.
Stay around people who speak life. The people you speak to, listen to and believe in are very important. Make sure you surround yourself with people that can speak life to you. Your circle matters. Let them remind you of God’s promises.
Go back to what He said. Whatever you do, NEVER forget His promises. Faithful is He that has spoken them. Whatever you need to do to be reminded, take the steps, Read your Bible; reread your journal of His promises. Revisit your last confirmation of His word. Don't ever forget what He has said
Worship while you wait. As much as it is okay to cry through the tough times, you also have to find your praise in the midst of it. Even if it means that you cry through it, praise breaks chains in the unseen. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…” – Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)“Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” – Habakkuk 2:3 (NIV)
💌 To the Girl Who’s Tired…
I cannot categorically say that I know exactly how you feel; or the things going through your

mind. Because I have learned that everybody's experience is different even though they might be similar. Two people can go through the same thing but come out completely with different resolves. So saying that I understand what you feel is me belittling your emotions and your experience.
It is your experience; you are practically living that life sis; so only you know where the show pinches. Don't let anyone try to explain away the originality of what you are feeling. They might have gone through that similar thing you are going through but you have to know that yours is unique to you. Take what you can relate to from their experience and stick to the originality of yours.
Although I cannot say I fully understand what it is you are experiencing, I can boldly say these things to you:
You are not forgotten
You are not forsaken.
And you are not alone.
God sees your tears, hears your prayers, and collects every sigh. And when the time comes, everything will click then you’ll understand why He took His time “One day, the weight of the wait will turn into the testimony you never imagined.” So breathe. Rest. And let His grace carry you through.
